Free Assured Shorthold Tenancy (AST) Agreement Template
An Assured Shorthold Tenancy (AST) Agreement is a contract between a landlord and a tenant that offers both parties legal protection as long as they follow the terms in the agreement.
Here at Howsy.com we always advise tenants and landlords to have a current AST agreement in place as it will contain the following:
- the start date of the tenancy agreement
- the end date of the tenancy agreement
- the use of the property and any restrictions of use
- the amount of deposit
- the rent amount and payment date
It covers what the tenant is responsible for – such as keeping the house tidy, fixtures and fittings in good working order.
As long as the tenant abides by the terms in the AST – the landlord is bound to provide a safe and habitable property, and if the property does become uninhabitable to provide alternative accomodation if the rent is still being collected.
